Pisgah Forest - William R. Stansberry, 77, of Brevard, NC passed away on Saturday, September 26, 2009 at his home following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on December 7, 1931 in West Virginia, a son of the late William and Phyllis (Robinson) Stansberry.

Bill is survived by his devoted wife Marian (Vriesen) Stansberry, whom he married on November 26, 1955, a brother James of Virginia Beach, VA; sons Jim (Sheril) Stansberry of Casselberry, FL, Chris (Aziza) of Pickens, SC, William (Joyce) of Sanford, FL and Michael (Alison) of St. Louis, MO, a son-in-law Kelly Schermerhorn of Mount Vernon, OH, 19 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother David and daughter Caroline.

A Memorial Service of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, September 29, 2009 at St. Timothy United Methodist Church in Brevard, NC with Rev. Randy Harry and Rev. Hank Moffitt. Burial will follow in Pisgah Gardens Cemetery in Brevard.
