William Schlunz

William F. “Bill” Schlunz, 71, of Brevard, passed away on August 5, 2022. Originally from Clinton, Iowa, he was the son of the Paul and Marian Randall Schlunz, and had called Brevard his home for a number of years.

Bill graduated from Brevard High School in 1969 and then attended Western Carolina University until 1971 when he went to serve in Vietnam. Bill joined the Navy and served in many places around the world. In 1982, he was stationed in Orlando where he finished his Navy career as a Leading Chief and Instructor for the Weapons Department specializing in torpedoes. After retirement from the Navy in 1991, he then worked for FedEx. In 2006, Bill returned to Brevard to enjoy his retirement. Bill loved Nascar and John Wayne.

Survivors include his daughter, Stephanie S. Hawkins; and two grandchildren, Brooks and Shayna Hawkins.

Services for Bill will be private.
