William Knowlan

William Robert Knowlan, 88, of Hendersonville, passed away on September 17, 2018 at Pardee Memorial Hospital in Hendersonville. A native of Brooklyn, New York, he was the son of the late James and Katherine Schoeffer Knowlan. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his son, Michael Knowlan, his brother James Knowlan and his sister Catherine Taft.

A land surveyor by trade, he was a United States Army Veteran.

His loving survivors include his wife, Clara Dillard Knowlan; his children: William Knowlan (Lynn) of Long Island, NY, Clara Cevasco (Tony) of Virginia Beach, VA, Mary Ann Pepenella (Jerry) of Long Island, NY, and Teresa Hesse (Bill) of Long Island, NY; grandchildren: Nadine Roe, Michael Knowlan, Matthew Knowlan, Kelly Melideo, Sharon Van Allen, Rachel Noble and Kevin Radkowski, Jr.; great-grandchildren: Vanessa Roe, Peyton Melideo and Patrick Melideo; and brother-in-law Marshall Dillard.

A Funeral Mass for William Knowlan will be held on Thursday, September 20, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Shawn O'Neal officiating. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory with Military Rites being conducted by the North Carolina National Guard and the Transylvania County Honor Guard.
