Vesta Marie Hopkins Owen



Brevard - Vesta Marie Hopkins Owen, 83, died Tuesday, July 08, 2008 at Transylvania Community Hospital.

A native of Henderson County, she was the daughter of the late Edward Jenkins Hopkins and Mary Florence Stepp Hopkins Goldsmith and was the wife of the late Alfred Joseph Owen. She is also preceded in death by a brother, Frank Hopkins.

Mrs. Owen was a member of Brevard Wesleyan Church.

Surviving are her daughter, Sharon Fogleman and husband Craig of Seven Lakes, NC; son, Jerry Owen and wife Vicki of Pisgah Forest; step-sister, Marybelle Goldsmith of New Jersey; grandchildren, Jacque Ballard and husband Darrick of Mars Hill, Chad Fogleman of Bryson City, NC, Erica Witherspoon of Florence, SC, Alysa Amato and husband Christopher of Durham, NC; great grandchildren, Kendall, Kaylee and Wes Witherspoon, Zachary and Gracie Ballard, Colin Burnham, Selah, Emma, and Eliza Brothers, Hunter Burnham; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday at the Brevard Wesleyan Church with the Revs. Morris Davis and Hank Moffitt officiating. Burial will be in Pisgah Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 PM Thursday at Moore Funeral Home.
