Valera Dortmundt

Valera Ann Dortmundt, 85, went home to be with the Lord on December 8, 2016.

A loving wife, mother, and a longtime member of Carr's Hill Baptist Church. Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Elwood Dortmundt and a son Linwood Dortmundt.

She epitomized the virtuous woman. She cared for a husband, children and home as well as extended family and others in her community. She grew food to feed her family, canning and preserving to provide through winters and hard times. She grew flowers to feed the soul. Most of all she instilled in her children a love for God. Ann loved the Lord with all her heart. She had a grateful spirit and when she smiled one could see Jesus shining in her face. She was well loved and will be sorely missed.

Ann is survived by two sons: Bobby Dortmundt of Vonore, TN and David and wife, Terry of Vonore, TN and one daughter, Lucy Bracken and husband, Sonny of Hendersonville, NC, one brother, Frank Simmons, Jr., eight grandchildren, ten great, grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

A Memorial service for Ann Dortmundt will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, December 15, 2016 December Carr's Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Shane Hardesty and Rev. Chris Morgan officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service, from 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Carr's Hill Baptist Church, Building Fund, 2719 Greenville Highway, Brevard, NC 28712.
