Theresa Byers

November 26, 1931 — December 8, 2019

Brevard

Theresa W. Byers, 88, of Brevard, passed away on Sunday, December 8, 2019 at the Solace Hospice Center in Asheville. She was born November 26, 1931 in Clopton, Alabama as the eighth child of the late Ernest and Biantha Williams. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her eight siblings, her first husband, Pete Wright, their son Robert, and her husband Harold Byers.

She came to Brevard in 1950. After taking care of her nieces, she worked at Olin for over 30 years and retired as a Quality Control inspector. Known as an accomplished bowler, she was also a big fan of the Atlanta Braves, following them even after she had lost her eye sight. The beautiful roses she grew brought pleasure to many people. Her greatest joy, however, was the love of her family and going to visit her Sweet Home Alabama.

She will be remembered as a gracious and kind person, with incredible courage, strength and faith. The love, the interest and the concern she poured out for each of her family members will never be forgotten.

Theresa is survived by fourteen nieces and nephews, two step-children, John Byers (Susie) and Sandra King, and four grandchildren.

Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 11, 2019, in the chapel of Moore-Blanchard Funerals & Cremations with Rev. Jeff Maynard officiating.

The family would like to give special thanks to her caregivers: Lonnie Frady and Faye McCall.
