Ruth Whitmire

Ruth Jarrett Whitmire, 92, of Brevard, passed away on December 5, 2016 at Kingsbridge House. A native of Transylvania County, she was born December 17, 1923 to the late William and Pearl Galloway Jarrett. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband John Baxter "JB" Whitmire, son, Landell Whitmire, daughter Marcella Zachary and grandson Seth Whitmire.

A woman of great faith and devotion to her family and church, She was an educator for God as a Sunday school teacher and a prayer warrior for those in need of intersession. She gave food from her garden to many that did not eat at her table. She was our rock and her sacrifices can only be repaid by following her example and paying them forward to the generations that follow us.

She is survived by a son, Dale Whitmire and wife Janet; grandchildren Cindy Blackwell and husband Mark, Dwayne Zachary and wife Angie, Ethan Whitmire, Jamie Whitmire, Lori Copeland and Amy Holliday, daughter-in-law Joelyn Whitmire; great-grandchildren Andrew Blackwell, William Copeland, Dillon Zachary, Britney Zachary, Jackson Whitmire, Samuel Whitmire, Elora Whitmire, Ashley Whitmire, Christopher Whitmire, Skylar McCandless, Charleigh Rion McCandless, and Adyson Holliday.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Whitmire will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, December 9, 2016 in the chapel of Moore-Blanchard Funerals & Cremations with Rev. Randy Stamey officiating. Burial will follow Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory in Pisgah Forest, NC. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm, prior to the service.
