Rev. Rosser Lee Eakes, 86, of Horseshoe passed away on Sunday, October 29. 2017. A native of Nash County, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Theophilus Wesley Eakes and the late Mary Jane Perry Eakes. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by 2 sisters and five brothers.
Rev. Eakes was a veteran of the United States Armed Forces having served in the United States Marine Corps.
He first served as pastor of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Mills River, NC for ten years then pastored several churches in Tennessee before retiring. In his retirement he pastored and ministered to the congregation of English Chapel United Methodist for the last twenty years.

His loving survivors include his wife of 61 years, Virginia Lee Eakes; his children: Shelley Fore and husband Joe of Surgoinsville, TN, Laurie Brock and husband Terry of East Flat Rock, NC, Kirk Eakes and wife Cheryl of Hendersonville, NC and Shari Eakes and husband Andy Brittain of Mills River, NC; grandchildren Jeremy Fore and wife Jami, Adam Fore and Gabe Brittain and great-grandchildren Lilly Fore and Conner Fore.

A Memorial Service for Rev. Eakes will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, November 12, 2017 at English Chapel United Methodist Church in Pisgah National Forest with Rev. Evelyn Patterson officiating.
