Robert Stanley Smith

Robert Stanley Smith, 73, of Penrose, passed away on Sunday, April 16, 2023. A Transylvania County native, he was the son of the late Robert Lee Smith and Helen Marie Davidson Morrison. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brothers Ernie Smith and Mickey Smith.

Stan was a Vietnam veteran, a Purple Heart recipient.  He donated time with Transylvania Little League and the Brevard Blue Devil club. He worked and retired from Olin-Ecusta after over 40 years.  A community Gardner, he grew and distributed lots of vegetables with family and friends.

A devout husband, a loving father, a passionate grandfather, and believer of Christ.  He favored long days cheering on loved ones' athletic passions, pool parties, Atlanta Braves, black and white westerns, and shirtless drives to anywhere.  

His loving survivors include his wife, Suzanne Gravley Smith; their sons Sean (Melissa) and Jason (Christy); grandsons Zach, Hank (Lauren), Sawyer, Jonathon, Tucker, Jay (Kelsey) and Coleman; granddaughter Carter; great granddaughter Blakeley; and brothers Jerry Smith and Ira Smith.  

A Memorial Service for Stan Smith will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 20, 2023 at Grace Baptist Church in Brevard with Rev. Michael Childers officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Grace Baptist Church “Foundation Fund”, 10 West Holden Road, Brevard NC, 28712.
