Brevard - Preston (Harold) Rahn, 74, of Brevard, passed away on Sunday, February, 22, 2009. He was born March 20, 1934 to Preston (P.A.) and Katie Rahn of Penrose, NC and he was a lifelong resident of Transylvania County. He retired from E.I. DuPont after twenty-eight years of service on August 31, 1992. He and his wife are members of English Chapel Methodist Church in Pisgah Forest NC. Harold was an avid gardener and master craftsman; who loved to decorate his home for all to enjoy.
He was proceeded in death by two of his brothers Wilbur Rahn of Brevard, and Herman Rahn of Penrose, NC, and three of his sisters Doris Rahn Orr, Erma Rahn Monteith, of Brevard and Ernestine Rahn Davis of Macon, GA. He is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Ethel Rahn and his children Preston Rahn and his wife Susan of Greenville, SC, Joyce Johnston and her husband Adam of Houston, TX, James Rahn and his wife Teri of Brevard, and Rene' Gray and her husband Charles of Pisgah Forest, NC. He is also survived by a brother Madison Rahn of Pisgah Forest, NC and a sister Vera Rahn Mast of Penrose, NC.
He was the loving grandfather of Trey Rahn, Charlie Gray, Katie Gray, Aaron Rahn, Preston Rahn, Leah Rahn Compton, Ashley Rahn, Matthew Johnston, Tyler Johnston, Heath Rackley, and Jentsen Rackley. In addition he was blessed with three great grandchildren, Evie Rackley, Grace Rackley, and Savannah Rackley.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday at the First United Methodist Church of Brevard with the Revs. Mike Jordan and Lee Eakes officiating. Burial will be in Pisgah Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 pm Friday at Moore Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, 950 West Faris Rd., Greenville, SC 29605.
