Paul James Owen

Paul James Owen, 76, of Brevard, passed away on Tuesday, February 13, 2024. A native of Transylvania County, he was the son of the late George Thomas and Willie Mae Owen. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sister, Laverne Owens.

The former pastor of Holly Springs Baptist Church, he was also retired from DuPont after many years of faithful service. An avid coin collector and Bingo player, he was a lifetime member of the NRA. 

His greatest enjoyment came from spending time with his children and grandchildren, and growing number of great-grandchildren.

His loving survivors include his children, Rev. Shannon Owen (Kim) and Shawnee Owenby (Stewart); grandchildren: Lauren Ashe (Jalen), Seth Owen (Mackenzie), Kayla Summey and Alexis Owenby; great-grandchildren: Cooper, Adaleigh, Gracie, Colter, Owen, Eleanor and (soon to arrive) Audrey; his sister, Shirley Roper, his brother, Jimmy Owen (Carol); and a number of nieces and nephews.

There will be a gathering of family and friends to honor Paul Owen at 6:00 PM on Friday, February 16, 2024 in the fellowship hall at Turkey Creek Baptist Church in Pisgah Forest.
