Pisgah Forest, North Carolina

Oliver Paul "O P" Martin, 84, of Brevard, NC passed away on Monday, June 5, 2017 at Transylvania Regional Hospital. A native of Madison County, NC, he was a son of the late Harry Martin and Lillie Mae Hottell Martin. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Blanch Lankford Martin who died in 2011, three brothers; George, Dan and Guy Martin and three sisters; Catherine Plemmons, Emma Trowbridge and Bertha Case.

Mr. Martin moved from Madison County, NC where he was a farmer, to Brevard, NC in 1963 and worked with Winn-Dixie as a meat cutter for over 30 years. He was a longtime member of Turkey Creek Baptist Church.

He is survived by a son; Paul Martin and his wife Jean (McNeely) of Pisgah Forest, NC, a daughter; Kay Adkins and her husband William of Sun City Center, FL, one brother; Roy Martin and one sister; Molly Carter and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service for Oliver Martin will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, June 11, 2017 at Turkey Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Jason Kittrell officiating. The family will receive friends during a reception following the service.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the Staff at The Oaks of Brevard. Their loving and professional care during his stay at The Oaks was a blessing to Mr. Martin and his family.
