Mildred Goodson

Mildred Sprouse Goodson, 94, was surrounded by her family as she went home to be with the Lord on Monday, December 10, 2018. She was born September 13, 1924 to the late Willie and Mary Sprouse. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Floyd Goodson; two sisters Rosa Lee Blanton and Violet Sentelle; and son-in-law Sam Hughey.

She was a member of Turkey Creek Baptist Church and was a devoted Christian. She was a loving homemaker who raised her two children and kept many of her grandchildren.

Survivors include one son, Rex Goodson and wife Gail of Hendersonville; and one daughter, Sarah Goodson Hughey of Brevard; four grandchildren Cindy Taylor and husband Gary of Hendersonville, Chris Goodson and wife Christy of Hendersonville, Valerie Tilson and husband Garrick of Brevard, and Adam, Hughey and wife Jessica of Brevard. Great-grandchildren include Brooke Romesberg and husband Jeff, Nila, Camden, Hayden, and Hanley Goodson, Brett, Grant, and Miles Hughey as well as a great-great-grandchild, Jolie Rue Romesberg.

A private graveside service will be held for the family on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at Gillespie-Evergreen Cemetery. There will be a celebration of Life at 12:00 noon on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at Turkey Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Jason Kittrell officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 11:00 am - 12:00 noon. The family would like for everyone to stay for a meal immediately after the service.
