Mary Traywick

Mary Elizabeth Traywick, 96, of Brevard, passed away on December 29, 2016.

A native of McCormick County, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Walter Jones and Sarah Jane Turner Richardson. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband Wayne Traywick and son Colin Haigler Traywick.

The youngest, and last surviving of eight children, she was a graduate of Columbia College in Columbia, South Carolina. She enjoyed teaching elementary school at Charleston, SC, Indian Trail and Charlotte, NC before her retirement. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend. She was a member of several bridge clubs in Charlotte and Brevard as well as being an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves.

Surviving Mrs. Traywick are her children: Darryl Wayne Traywick and wife Susan of Denver, Colorado, Anne Elizabeth Traywick and partner Thomas Sims of Brevard and Neil Walter Traywick and wife Penny of Charlotte, North Carolina; five grandchildren: E. Ashley Denhard, Ross Alan Bloom, Margo Anne Erickson, Kyle Randolph Traywick and John Haigler Traywick; four great-grandchildren: Sydney Denhard, Paxton Denhard, Asher Erickson and Layell Bloom.

Friends are invited to join with Mary's family in celebrating her life. Come share music, memories and refreshments anytime between 11 a.m. -2 p.m. on Saturday, January 7, 2017 in the auditorium at College Walk.

The family would like to thank College Walk for providing her a community where she felt loved, cared for and independent.
