Mary Etta Johnson

      Mary E. Johnson, 88, of Brevard, passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2024. Born in Cleburne, Texas, she was the daughter of the late Alva Curtis and Lena Leucke Moore. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her sisters: Helen Walton, Lena Tickell, Norene Wachsman, Beth Grimland and Edna May Page, and her brother, A.C. Moore.

      Mrs. Johnson enjoyed helping to prepare pre-school-age children for school and demonstrated this through her years working at Head Start. A former president of the Transylvania Art Guild, she enjoyed painting with oils and acrylics.

      She also enjoyed going to the local community centers and listening to Blue Grass music. Her greatest joy came from helping her family and close friends.

      Her loving survivors include her children: Donna Hooper and Mark Hooper (Cyndi); grandchildren: Seth Hooper, Sarah Dorner (Quint) and Brennan Hooper (Tia); great-grandson Ira Hooper; and special long-time friend, Danny Whitmire.
