Mary Hardin

November 14, 1918 — December 21, 2019

Brevard

Mary Morgan Hardin was born on November 14th 1918 to Frank Morgan and Alma Foster Morgan in Transylvania County where she lived all her life. She left this plane peacefully in her sleep while attended by her daughter Marilyn and her son Frank, on Saturday morning, December 21, 2019, into the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ just in time for a glorious Christmas family reunion with her husband Gordon, mother Alma, sister Ruth Morgan Stroup and husband Tom Stroup; brother Harry Morgan and wife Ophelia White Morgan; brother-in-law Dwight Hardin and wife Doris Hawkins Hardin, Aunt Frances Foster Whitmire and husband Arthur Whitmire and all the family and saints which have gone before us. Those which await that grand reunion are daughter Marilyn Hardin Henley and husband Randall Henley, and son Frank Hardin.

She had a gift of giving to her family and all others. She loved children, which she taught in public schools in Transylvania until her retirement, and Sunday School classes until she was 90 years old.  She also supported various children’s charities until her death; her favorite being Samaritans Purse Operation Christmas Child, which she supported the first year they began.  She worked in many service organizations: Sharing House, where she served as a counselor, Transylvania Hospital Guild and many others. She believed if you love Jesus it is shown in your actions, not just in your speech.  She is a loving, patient and generous mother, sister, aunt and friend.  She never had a poor word to say about anyone, and if you did she would say maybe you just don't know them.  She will be mourned by many, and missed by all who really knew her.  She waits for us who remain to greet us for all who know that Jesus is Lord, with her smile and heartfelt words welcome.

A Graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 30, 2019 at Mount Moriah Cemetery with a memorial service following at Christ Covenant Church at 2:00 p.m. followed by a reception for family and friends. All are welcome.
