Mary Gillespie

Mary Elizabeth Volrath Gillespie, 63, of Cedar Mountain, passed away peacefully while surrounded by those who loved her on Friday, February 15, 2019. A native of Greenville, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Howard Volrath and Myrtle Raines, and the late Margaret Henderson and husband Kurt Henderson. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her sister, Carol Inch and her grandson Bryan Roberts.
Mary was a good mother and wife who was always willing to help and give to others. She and her husband, Mike, went through many endeavors together in life, from driving trucks, to working on a farm, always without complaining. Mike cared for her to the best of his ability until God had mercy on her and took her to Heaven and gave her a healthy body and the life she could not get here.
Her survivors include her loving husband Mike Gillespie; children Suzy Hill (Justin) of Greeneville, TN and Chris Gillespie of Cedar Mountain, NC; grandchildren Tyler Roberts, Cody Roberts, Ryan Roberts and Jayden Hill; great-grandchildren Braylee Roberts and Gunner Roberts; brother Steve Vorath and sisters Sharon Fincannon (Jerry) and Juana Siniard (Nathan); nieces and nephews Dyane Delefha (Pete), Blake Volrath, Joshua Fincannon, Daniel Fincannon and Carrie Siniard; and many special friends.
Services for Mary Gillespie will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, February 22, 2019 at Rocky Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Butch Skerritt officiating. A meal will follow the service after the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the family for funeral expenses.
