Marilyn Phillips

Marilyn Brewer Phillips, 85, of Pisgah Forest, passed away on Monday, December 10, 2018. Born in Hodge, Louisiana, she was the daughter of the late John Ambrose and Marie Thompson Brewer. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her son, James "Jimmy" Phillips in 2007 and her brother John Charles Brewer in 1963.
After moving to North Carolina in 1939, she later worked for Ecusta for 28 years as a Sales Manager. A member of Pisgah Forest Baptist Church, she enjoyed traveling with her husband, Jim Phillips, cooking, gardening and spending time with her family. She was a special wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
Her loving survivors include her husband of 65 years, James "Jim" Phillips; their daughter Vicki Phillips of the home; three grandchildren: Jessica Whited, Graham Phillips and Courtney Phillips and two great-grandchildren Jeshua Whited and Brawley Whited; her sister Connie Brock and several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service for Marilyn Phillips will be held at 3:00 PM on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at Pisgah Forest Baptist Church with Rev. David Spray and Nate Whited officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

They met when life was young and new
And started down life's winding road
With fields still bright with morning dew
They shared the joys and shared the load

Hand in hand, they've trod the miles,
Though steps grow slower with years
Looking back brings only smiles
Looking forward brings no fears

The course is stayed, the die is cast
Each day a treasure meant to share
And when the sun shall set at last
They'll walk together over there.
