Blantyre - Margaret M. Gash, 99, died Monday, April 7, 2008 at Four Seasons Hospice and Palliative Care in Hendersonville.

A native of Transylvania County, she was the daughter of the late James Lee and Julia Hood Gash. She was preceded in death by twin brothers William H. Gash and Winbourn L. Gash.

Margaret was a lifetime member of Etowah Presbyterian Church which her family was instrumental in founding. She taught Sunday school and was active in all phases of the church life. She was also a member of Retired Teachers Association and DAR. She retired after teaching more than 35 years in Transylvania and Henderson County public schools.

Surviving are two sister-in-laws; Argyle Gash of Blantyre and Betty Gash of Etowah, NC, three nieces; Carolyn G. Burnette of Chattanooga, TN, Judy G. Harden of Etowah and Patricia M. Gash of Blantyre, three nephews; James Lee Gash of Etowah, Dr. William (Bill) Gash of Lumberton, NC and Tommy Gash of Etowah, eleven great nieces and nephews and 9 great great nieces and nephews

A Memorial Service will be held 3:00 PM Thursday, April 10, 2008 at Etowah Presbyterian Church with Rev. Thomas Parker and Rev. Thomas Cook II officiating.

Family will receive friends following the service at the church.
