Lillie Paxton

Lillie McCrary Paxton, of Brevard, went home to be with her Lord, on Monday, August 1, 2016 at the age of 102, and was united with her loved ones in Heaven.

She was born on July 8, 1914. She was the daughter of Joseph Alexander McCrary and Mary Shipman McCrary. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of fifty six years Ralph Paxton, seven siblings, Carl, Charles, Arthur, Clyde, and Harold McCrary, Clarice Jackson, and Nellie Disher. One grandchild Mical Hope Paxton, and a beloved daughter in law Evelyn "Jerrie" Lee Paxton.

Lillie was a lifelong resident of Transylvania County. She loved her home and was a very active member of Mt. Moriah Calvert Baptist Church for eighty two years. She was a Master Gardener and retired from Transylvania County School System.

Surviving include sister Edna Bryson of Brevard N.C., brother Fred McCrary and his wife Jean of Brevard, NC. Surviving family members include three sons, Edward H. Paxton of Greenville S.C., Dr. John H. Paxton and wife Lillian of Greenville, S.C. and Harold F. Paxton of Brevard N.C. Four grandchildren, Angela Moss, Mark Paxton and wife Chantelle, Roth C. Paxton, Allison Tinsley and husband John. Six great grandchildren Drayton, Killian, and Hayes Paxton, as well as Shelby Marie, Dillon Gene and Silas Paxton Tinsley.

Services will be held at Mt. Moriah Calvert Baptist Church Friday, August 5, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev Wallace McCall and Rev. Chester Chappell officiating. Family will receive friends immediately following the service. Burial will follow at the Paxton Heritage Family Cemetery on Hannah Ford Rd.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Future Farmers of America Foundation at Rosman High School, 749 Pickens Highway, Rosman, NC 28772.
