Lawrence "Larry" James Sorkin

Lawrence James “Larry” Sorkin, 79, of Lake Toxaway, passed away on November 20, 2023. A native of Cleveland, Ohio, he was the son of the late Sanford and Dorothy Levine Sorkin.

An Ohio State Buckeye, through and through, where played drums in the Ohio State Band, he was a career jeweler. In addition to his work, he also served and became a 32^nd degree Mason and was also a Shriner. He played drums and later became drum major for the Blue Ridge Pipes and Drums.

He enjoyed fishing and his automobiles, particularly his Corvette.

His greatest joy came with being with his family; his wife of 50 years, Debra Sorkin; their daughters: Sabrina Holt (Scott) and Kerri Sorkin (Jenna); his grandchildren: Shawn Holt, Anna Holt, Jackson Sorkin and Remington Sorkin; great-grandchildren Harper Holt and Kimber Holt; and his sisters: Linda Purvis and Shellee Zurvalec.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, November 24, 2023 at Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory in Pisgah Forest.
