John James Bell, Sr. passed away September 7, 2016 at the age of 90. He was the son of Walter Aspenwald Bell and Helen Youngblood Bell. He was preceded in death by 5 brothers: Walter, Louis, Richard, Joseph and David Bell.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Edna Team Bell, sons John, Jr. and daughter-in-law Jane, Allen and daughter-in-law Kristen, Douglas and daughter-in-law Melissa, Walter J. Bell and a daughter, Katherine Bell Vause and son- in- law Kenneth Vause. He leaves seven grandchildren, Patrick Bell and wife Diana, Lauren Bell, Katherine Boley and husband Bynum, Alec Bell, Jackson Vause, Aaron Bell and Nathan Bell. He was the proud great grandfather of three boys, Colin Bell, Zemp Boley and Calhoun Boley.
He is also survived by a sister, Ann Bell Lunney, sisters-in-law Theresa and Nancy Bell, sister-in-law Emily T. Whitfield and her husband Aubrey L. Whitfield, wife of brother-in-law Helen C. Team and many nieces and nephews.
John was born in the Philadelphia, PA area, and entered the U. S. Navy after graduating from high school. He graduated from Villanova University with an Electrical Engineering degree in 1950 and accepted a job with the DuPont Company in the Engineering Department. Over a 40 year career he worked his way up to Project Manager and retired in 1990.
The Memorial Mass for John J. Bell, Sr. will be at 11 AM on Monday September 19, 2016 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 100 Brian Berg Lane, Brevard, NC. Burial will take place at a later date in Camden, SC in the Quaker Cemetery.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the dedicated care givers and Hospice staff.
