Joe Pace

April 9, 1935 — September 20, 2017

Pisgah Forest, North Carolina

JOE EARL PACE, 82, is now in the presence of Jesus, having left this earth on Sept. 20, 2017 after a brief battle with cancer. He died at home in the arms of his loving wife of 26 years, Christine Jones Pace. Many family members surrounded Joe with love just hours prior to his demise.

A fifth-generation resident of Cedar Mountain, Joe & Christine had just moved closer to Brevard's hospital, and family members, one year ago; they remained active in the Cedar Mountain community still, and attended Rocky Hill Baptist church where Joe was a long-time Deacon.

Besides his wife Christine, Joe is survived by daughter Deborah "Debbie" Pace Bracken (Chris); son Joseph Leland "Joey" Pace (Paula); Step-daughter Carri Jones Harris (Jimmy) all of Brevard, and step-son Rev. Curtis "Matthew" Jones (Daniela) of Matthews, NC. Grandchildren are Jessica Dill Landreth(Marc), Anthony Dill(Anastasia), Joseph "Adam" Pace(Natalie), Josie Lynn Pace (Fiance-Justin Pruett), Cassi Harris, Calla Harris, Cooper Harris, and Levi Emmanuel Jones. Grandson William "Quinn" Harris preceded him in death. Also surviving are six great-grandchildren: Connor, Patience , Jaidyn Landreth,
and Izayah & Maliah Dill, all of Brevard and Jeremiah Pace of Ft. Knox, Kentucky. One brother, John Douglas "Doug" Pace of Cedar Mountain survives. Two sisters, Dorothy "Dot" Pace Lee, and Jean Pace Hamby preceded their brother in death.

Joe had a number of "favorite" nieces too, including "the Lee sisters": Charlotte Jones, Rosemary Carter, Patty Stahl, Beth Owings & Diane Hemphill. Jeanne Hayes is another favorite niece, along with Regina Bouye. Nephews include Rev. Ralph Lee, John Randal "Randy" Pace, & Michael Scot Pace.

He is also survived by numerous great nieces & nephews.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at the Rocky Hill Baptist Church in Cedar Mountain, NC followed by burial in the Rocky Hill cemetery. Officiating was Rev. Ralph Lee & Dr. Leland Holland.
