Jody Meredith Franklin Roberts

Jody Meredith Franklin Roberts, Sr., 76, of Hendersonville, passed away on September 2, 2023. A Transylvania County native, he was the son of the late Lewis and Beatrice Anders Roberts. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his brothers Lewis, Steven and Alton and his sister, Anne Elizabeth.

A graduate of East Henderson High School, he joined the Air Force and served during the Vietnam War. When he returned from Vietnam, he went to work for Dupont, where he worked for 31 years.  He enjoyed traveling, especially flying over the years.

But at home he served as a deacon at Blue Ridge Baptist Church where he was always willing to serve and help the people in the church. He restored and maintained his ’55 Chevrolet and enjoyed attending car shows. He also enjoyed working at home, tending the land and his garden. But his greatest joys always came from his family; his wife and children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

His loving survivors include his wife of 55 years, Betty Ann Roberts; their children: Jody Roberts, Jr. (Tina), and Lewis Roberts (Rebecca); grandchildren: J. R. Roberts III (Elizabeth), Isaac Roberts, Jade Carberry (Jonathan), Briana Beaman (Bradley), Heath Roberts (Mason), Brittany Villasana and Emilio Villasana; 5 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters: Judy Cantrell, Macey Robinson, Paul Roberts, Riley Roberts, Betty Sue Simmons, Randy Roberts and Linda Neal.

Graveside services including military rites will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 9, 2023 at Blue Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery in Cedar Mountain.
