Pisgah Forest - James E. (Jim) Robinson, 76, of Pisgah Forest died Friday, August 14, 2009 at his home.

A native of Candler, NC he had lived in Pisgah Forest over 50 years. He was a 1950 graduate of Candler High School and was employed with P.H. Glatfelter, previously Olin Corporation, as a computer programmer for 39 years. Before his illness, he especially enjoyed walking in Pisgah National Forest and DuPont State Park. He also enjoyed fishing, boating, shooting sports and riding his Harley.

He was a member of Pisgah Forest Baptist Church and was the son of the late Floyd Burgin Robinson and Hazel Medford Robinson of Candler, NC.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Ruth Moore Robinson, of Pisgah Forest; his loving sons, Mike Robinson and wife Carolyn, and Tim Robinson, all of Pisgah Forest; two special grandchildren, Kristi Gonce of Dana and Russell Robinson of Little River; and a great-granddaughter, Faith Madison Gonce who had the ability to light up his life. He was also survived by a special brother-in-law, Owen Moore of Candler, and a special aunt, Katherine Medford of Pisgah Forest. He enjoyed just sitting and talking with both of them. He was also survived by several cousins, nephews and a very special friend, Bill Reece, of Salem, SC.

He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and will be sadly missed.


Funeral services will be held Monday, August 17, 2009 at Pisgah Forest Baptist Church at 11:00 AM with Rev. Bobby Owings officiating. Burial will follow at 1:30 PM at White Rock Baptist Church Cemetery, Candler, NC. The family will receive friends from 7:00PM to 9:00 PM Sunday evening at Moore Funeral Home.
