James Clifford Gillespie

James Clifford Gillespie, 82, of Hendersonville, passed away on Monday, March 25, 2024. A native of Transylvania County, he was the son of the late Clifford and Catherine Shipman Gillespie. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Dorothy H. Gillespie, and their son, James Steven Gillespie.

A simple man who found his greatest joy in his family, he had big dreams and a bigger heart for those he loved. He enjoyed the old Westerns and he loved horses. He had a knack for remembering trivial things, and important things, like birthdays.

A member of Stoney Mountain Baptist Church, he never met a stranger.

His loving survivors include his sons, Earl Gillespie (Allison) and Gerald Gillespie (Audra); grandchildren: Christopher Litel (Jenny), Jacob Gillespie (Kendra), Brenton Gillespie (Mariah), Autumn Gillespie and Johnathan Gillespie; great-grandchildren: Jaxson Litel and Sawyer Litel.

Funeral Services for Mr. Gillespie will be at 3:00 PM on Thursday, March 28, 2024 in the chapel of Moore-Blanchard Funerals & Cremations in Brevard. The family will receive friends from 2:00pm until time for the service. The interment will be private.
