James Cameron

Brevard, North Carolina

James "Ty" Tyler Cameron, Sr., 88, of Brevard, NC passed away on Sunday, June 5, 2016.

He was a son of the late Angus Ewan and Beatrice Morris Cameron. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 47 years, Freida Cameron and a brother, Bill Cameron.

He is survived by one daughter; Candace Taylor and husband Jeff of Sapphire, one son; Cam Cameron and wife Barbara of Fletcher, NC, one half-sister; Virginia Jenkins of Taylorsville, NC, a special cousin; Dina Merritt, six grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Cameron graduated from Chester High School and was a 1950 graduate of Clemson University and was an avid fan for life. He worked in the textile industry and retired from American Thread in 1988. He was a veteran of the US Navy serving his country during WW II.

A Memorial Service for Mr. Cameron will be held at 4:00 P.M. on Wednesday, June 8, 2016 in the Chapel of Moore-Blanchard Funerals & Cremations with Rev. Randy Shuler officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Military rites will be conducted by the Honor Guard for Veterans of Transylvania County.
