Hunley Wae "Mac" Mehaffey
Pisgah Forest - Hunley Wae "Mac" Mehaffey, 92, died Sunday, July 5, 2009 at Transylvania Regional Hospital.
A native of Transylvania County, he was the son of the late Rev. R. R. Mehaffey and Julia Watts Mehaffey. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Ray, Roy, Vaughn, and Ernest Mehaffey, and his sisters, Pearl M. Murphy and Polly West.
Mr. Mehaffey was retired from Olin Corp. and was a member of Turkey Creek Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Willie Mae "Billie" Davis Mehaffey; son, John Lee Mehaffey and wife Melody of Alexander; daughter, Brenda M. Summer and husband Richard of West Columbia, SC; grandchildren, Dustin, Caleb, and Simon Mehaffey, and Hannah and Callie Summer; brother, Coy Mehaffey and wife Clara of Arden; sister, Edna M. Cole and husband Herman of Leicester.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday at Turkey Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Raymond Whitfield officiating. Burial will be in Turkey Creek Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8:30 pm Tuesday at Turkey Creek Baptist Church.
The family would like to thank Dr. Shane Foster and the staffs of Transylvania Regional Hospital and TRH Hospice for the care that they gave to Mr. Mehaffey.
