Herbert James "Jim" Matheson, Jr.





Horse Shoe - Herbert James "Jim" Matheson, Jr., 56, passed away Saturday, September 13, 2008 at his residence after a short battle with cancer. He was a faithful husband, father and friend. He has finished his task on this earth and now rests in peace with his heavenly father.

A native of Bladen County, NC and he was a son of Oveline Kinlaw Matheson and the late Herbert James Matheson.

He retired from the US Army after serving for 22 years. He served in the 82nd Airborne, the Army National Guard, Army Reserve and was an Army Reserve Recruiter for 8 years. He retired out of the Army Reserve. He was a member of Enon Baptist Church.

In addition to his mother, survivors include his wife, Marcia Matheson, a son: James Heath Matheson and wife Mary of Rosman, NC, one brother: Danny Driggers and wife Gayle of Bladenboro, NC, four sisters: Mary Ann Pait and husband Robert, Barbara Bryan and husband Jerry, Stephanie Burney and husband Red all of Bladenboro, NC and Maria Taylor of Texas, one granddaughter: Christina Gibbons, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, September 16, 2008 at Moore Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tommy Madden and Rev. Danny McLamb officiating. Military rites will be conducted at the graveside.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1-2 PM Tuesday at Moore Funeral Home.
