Helen Margaret "Margy" (Fraser) Reed, of 100 N. College Row, Brevard, North Carolina, died on March 2, 2008 at her residence. She was born June 4, 1922 in Ithaca, New York, the daughter of Allan Cameron Fraser and Helen (Myers) Fraser.

On February 5, 1942 she married Francis Senter "Bill" Reed, who died March 12, 2004. She was predeceased by her parents and husband, and by her son Allan Francis Reed.

She is survived by one sister, Janet (Fraser) McEntee of Ithaca, New York; three daughters: Meredith Anne "Bunny" (Reed) Murray and her husband Clark Murray of Brevard, North Carolina, Virginia Susan Reed of Inverness, Florida, and Janet Kathleen (Reed) Brandon and her husband Joseph Brandon of Staunton, Virginia; one nephew: Dr. Michael McEntee of Knoxville, Tennessee; one niece: Dr. Margaret McEntee, of Ithaca, New York; nine grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren.

She was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority at Cornell University and the P. E. O. Chapters of Eustis, Florida and Brevard, North Carolina. A Presbyterian Elder, she served on the Session of First Presbyterian Church in Eustis, Florida and sang in its choir. She currently attended the Brevard Davidson River Presbyterian Church in Brevard, North Carolina.

She was an active volunteer in the communities where she lived, working as a hospital Pink Lady for more than fifty years, serving on the Board of Directors of Waterman Memorial Hospital in Eustis, Florida, and delivering Meals on Wheels in Brevard, North Carolina for over fifteen years.

She was a devoted wife, loving mother, doting grandmother, dependable friend, faithful church member, gracious hostess, and an asset to her community. All who knew her will remember her wit, warmth, wisdom, and sparkling smile.

A memorial service will be held at Brevard Davidson River Presbyterian Church in Brevard, North Carolina on Saturday, March 8, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. A second service will be held in Eustis, Florida at a later date. Those wishing to make memorial gifts in lieu of flowers are encouraged to send them to Meals on Wheels of Brevard, 431 E Main Street, Brevard, NC 28712.
