George Sivore

July 23, 1917 — July 14, 2009

Asheville, North Carolina

George A. Sivore, 91, of Brevard, NC, died peacefully on Tuesday, July 14, 2009 in Brevard, NC.

He was born in Chicago, Ill. on July 23, 1917, the only son of the late George F. and Alice McKenna Sivore and had resided in Dune Acres, Indiana and Ft. Lauderdale, Fl. for many years prior to moving to North Carolina in 2006.

George served in the Air Force during WWII where he received the Air Medal. He was a successful entrepreneur and writer. He founded United Tractor in Chesterton, Indiana, B & C Products, Port Everglades Industries and Port Imports all of Fort Lauderdale, Fl. George wrote with the late Steve Allen in Chicago, Ill. and he published his own book "A Bedside Reader for Insomniacs".

He had many joys in life but none greater than his love for his late wife of 57 years, Kathryn N. Sivore. George is survived by his four sons: George Anthony "Tony" Sivore, Jr. and his wife Mary of Hendersonville, NC, Joseph Sivore of Ft. Lauderdale, Fl., Michael Sivore and his wife Cindy of St. Louis, Mo., and Timothy Sivore and his wife Paula of Asheville, NC. He was blessed to know and love his nine grandchildren: Jeremy, Kyle, Anthony, Anne, Michael, Margaret, Elizabeth, McKenna, Patrick, and two great grandchildren; Addison and Vincent. George leaves us with many memories as a great son, husband, father and friend, but it's his quick wit and gift with words we will always remember... We will miss you.

The family invites friends to join with them to celebrate George's life at Moore Funeral Home Thursday, July 23, 2009 from 5 - 7pm.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in George's name to Poor Clare Monastery, 6029 Estero Boulevard, Fort Myers Beach, FL 33931-4325.
