Rosman - MSgt. Franklin D. "Jack" Galloway (Ret.) US Army, 76, died Thursday, August 27, 2009 at Transylvania Regional Hospital.
A native of Transylvania County, NC, he was the son of the late Sylvester and Mamie Hensley Galloway.
He served in the US Army and is a veteran of both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He was a recipient of two Purple Hearts. Mr. Galloway was a member of the 187th Rgt. Cmb Tm., 11th Airborne in Korea, a lifetime member of Rakkassans, an associate member of Special Forces and a member of Operation Phoenix in Vietnam. He was injured and disabled during combat in Vietnam in 1968. He was a member of DAV, VFW and a former member of the Elks.
He is survived by his dedicated and loving wife of 49 ' years, Kim Galloway, a son Rex Galloway and wife Martha of Rosman, a nephew, Harry Galloway and wife Victoria of Greer, SC and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Saturday, August 29, 2009 from 4-6PM at Moore Funeral Home.
Burial will follow at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA.
