Frances Waldrop

November 13, 1925 — March 3, 2019

Brevard, North Carolina

Frances Gillespie Waldrop, 93, of Brevard, went home to be with Jesus on Sunday, March 3, 2019. Born in Rosman, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Leander and Annie Gillespie. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Hovey E. Waldrop, son-in-law George Miller, and grandson Levi Bryson. She was also preceded in death by five brothers: Al, Ted, Jason, Hugh and Robert and her sister Lila Stafford.
Frances was the oldest member of Glady Branch Baptist Church and faithfully attended until she became homebound in recent years. She was "Mama", "Mamaw", "Sis" and "Aunt Frances" to many who loved her and will truly miss her sweet smile and quick wit.
Her loving survivors include her four daughters: Martha Steil and husband Frank of Chattanooga, TN, Rachel Miller of Brevard, Lucy Bryson and husband Bill of Pisgah Forest and Lynn Rathbone and husband Dan of Clyde, NC; her brother, Lester Gillespie and wife Shirley; her sister Grace Leonard and husband Jack and sister-in-law Ann Gillespie; seven grandchildren: Kristy, Stacey, Tracey, Patrick, Heather, Katie and Laura; nine great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service for Frances Waldrop will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at Glady Branch Baptist Church with Rev. Allen Thompson officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Mountain Care Adult Daycare(formerly KOALA) at 242 Medical Park Drive, Brevard, NC 28712 which provided Frances with great care and enjoyment.
