Eleanor Marcum

Eleanor Lee McDonald Marcum, formerly Eleanor Pate passed away on August 6th 2019.

Always the life of the party, she found the energy to celebrate her 78th birthday with her family & friends three days prior on August 3rd, 2019.

She grew up in Asheville NC, but spent most of her life in Brevard enriching those she met with her beautiful smile and outgoing personality. She loved life and had a gift for making those around her feel loved.  Holidays were a favorite time for her as she loved spending them with family.  She, most recently, and with great joy, attended Discovery Church in Newton N.C. while visiting with her son Rick and his family, Kim & Carsen.

She was preceded in death by her parents Mr. James Lee "Bop" McDonald, Sr. and Mrs. Kathleen Bessie "Diddie" McDonald. She was also preceded in death by her first husband Mr. Mallory Pate, and second husband Mr. Jim Marcum.

She is survived by her brother Jim McDonald Jr, of Brevard NC, and two sons, Rick Pate, wife Kim & granddaughter Carsen of Newton NC, Bryan Pate of Brevard NC and grandchildren Caitlin & Caleb Pate, step grandchildren Brittany & Bronson Marcum as well as nieces, nephews, brothers & sisters in law.

A Celebration of Life will be held Friday August 16, 2019, 2 pm at Faith Memorial Chapel in Cedar Mountain NC.  With Rev. Todd Alewine and Rev. Shelly Webb officiating.

The family would like to thank the staff and residents at Tore's Home for their compassion, love, and care while she was there.
