Dwight Perkins

Dwight Lee Perkins, 67, of Pisgah Forest, passed away on Monday, March 27, 2023.A native of Transylvania County, he was the son of the late J.D. and Katie Perkins.

A United States Air Force Veteran, he also made a career out of driving trucks, which was something he greatly enjoyed. Along with his wife, Susan, he enjoyed the wide-open spaces and drove across the country. They also rode the Blue Ridge Parkway on a motorcycle. Traveling abroad, to the United Kingdom, Australia, Costa Rica and Alaska, were all times of fun and enjoyment.

He preferred face-to-face talks over telephone chats anytime as he liked talking to folks. He particularly enjoyed spending time with his lifelong friends from school years on his porch or wherever he was at the time.  But his greatest enjoyment was spoiling his grandchildren and spending time with his family, especially his brother Jeff.

His loving survivors include his wife, Susan Perkins; children: Tyler Perkins, Michael Birkle, Daniel Birkle (Jessica), Jessica Worthan (Josh), and Steven Birkle (Kate); eleven grandchildren; his best friend and brother, Jeff Perkins (Kim); niece Julie Perkins and nephew Robert Perkins.

At his request, there will be no services at this time.
