Doris Owen Hogsed, of Silversteen, passed away on Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at Elizabeth House, Flat Rock, NC surrounded by her loving family. She was a daughter of the late Emmett Owen and Bonnie Mae Reid Owen. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband; Burlin Hosged who died in 1971, an infant son; Burlass, one brother; Paul Owen, one sister; Joyce Moore, two son-in-laws; Thad McCall and Danny Powell and one grandson; Chad McCall.

Doris was a devoted homemaker and mother. She enjoyed gardening and sewing. The love she had for her church and community was evident in the years she spent managing the food bank at Mountain View Baptist Church, where she was a Charter member. Doris was a valued community leader for many years.

She had a love of WWE wrestling. Her hobbies included working crossword puzzles, cooking, baking and enjoying spending time with her family and friends, gardening and sewing.

Doris is survived by three daughters; Mary H. McCall of Silversteen, Margaret H. Owen and husband Odell of Balsam Grove and Kathy H. Powell of Rabun Gap, Ga., one son; Virgil Hogsed and wife Rhonda of Silversteen, one sister; Jewell Tolley, one brother; James Owen, 11 grandchildren 23 great grandchildren and 5 great, great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Doris Hosged will be held 2:00 PM, Friday, June 24, 2016 at Mountain View Baptist Church, Silversteen Community with Rev. Ray Von Galloway and Rev. Charles Nicholson officiating. The family will receive friends form 12:30 PM-2:00 PM at the church. Burial will follow at McCall Cemetery.
