David Crane

David Jack Crane, 71, an admirable gentleman, who was cherished by his family and friends, passed peacefully on July 6, 2018 in Augusta, GA.David was born on February 28, 1947 to Charles and Nora Crane. He was preceded in death by his brothers Jimmy and Joe Crane, and niece Amy Buchanan and her husband Garrett.
He grew up in the East Fork Community of Brevard, NC. He served as a helicopter crew chief in the Third US Army Fifth Aircraft Maintenance Branch from 1966-1968, and he was a decorated solider serving in Vietnam.

After his military service he spent his career in the start-up of multiple nuclear power plants across the country. His career ended when he retired in 2012 from the NutraSweet Company in Augusta Ga. His last 50 years were spent as a devoted husband to his wife Carolyn Bryson Crane.

David was a skilled fisherman, a story teller, and a respected family man. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all that knew him.

Surviving is his wife Carolyn Crane and sisters Dixie Castle, Helen Hubbard and sister-in-law Ada Crane. Along with a long list of family members that he loved deeply.
Graveside services for David Crane will be at 2:30 PM on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at Big Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at the funeral home, prior to the service. Military Rites will be conducted by the North Carolina National Guard and the Transylvania County Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers, a tribute donation in David's memory may be made to the Patriot Guard Riders at patriotguard.org.
