David Collins

David Collins, 72, of Brevard, died on Friday, February 8, 2019. Born in Detroit, Michigan, he attended Western Michigan University, graduating with Bachelor's Degree in Political Science. Later, he earned an accounting degree from Cleary College in Ann Arbor and a Master's Degree in Business from Eastern Michigan University. He worked as a pharmaceutical sales representative for Schering Plough for 30 years.
After retiring in 2002, he and his wife, Lee, moved to Brevard. He enjoyed reading, golfing, hiking and traveling all around the world, meeting their goal of visiting locations on seven continents. Dave loved music. His musical journey started with singing in a boy's choir, and then high school and college bands years ago. In retirement, he took up the guitar, the banjo and ukulele and was in several music groups. For several years he was involved with the Connestee Falls Student Scholarship Program.
He was a soft-spoken man that loved life and had a smile for you. He gathered friends wherever he went.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Lee Collins; and his sister Catherine Lu of Lake Oswego, Oregon.
A Memorial Service for David Collins will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at Brevard-Davidson River Presbyterian Church with Rev. Keith Thompson officiating. Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception to be held in the church fellowship hall.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Brevard Cancer and Infusion Center, 89 Hospital Drive, Brevard, NC 28712 or Care Partners Hospice, 1266 Asheville Highway, Brevard, NC 28712.
