Darlene Amelia Wellinghoff, 88, of Pisgah Forest, NC, passed away on Tuesday, May 31, 2022. A native of Ontario, Canada March 2, 1934, to the late Paul and Lily Hill. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Arnold (Wally) Wellinghoff, who passed away on February 2, 2014. They were married on December 1, 1956 and celebrated 57 years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by her son; Greg who passed away in 2011, and three brothers; Tim, Paul, and Berry.
Born and raised in Ontario, Canada, she moved to Miami in 1956 and began her nursing career at Mercy Hospital in Key Biscayne, Fl. She and Wally married in December and began living in Miami Shores later moving south to Pinecrest while raising their family. While living in South Miami she worked for a Cardiologist group, Dr. Halpern, Dr. Zwerling and Dr. Silverstein. She loved working as a nurse and office manager for these doctors.
She was very involved in bible study, fellowship, and teaching for many years. Also, a Stephen Ministry leader in Miami and here at First United Methodist Church of Brevard, where she was a member. She was always active in church. After coming to Brevard, she began working at the preschool program at the church as assistant to the director. She loved children and being involved at the school.
She loved gardening, doing her crossword puzzles, and reading, but mostly being with her family.
She is survived by her daughter, Kim Parrish (Brett), and their children, Amber (Matt), (Zach) Courtney, Colter (Ashley), Hunter (Ryan), two sons, Dean Wellinghoff (Michelle) and their children, Brittany and Briley, Darryl (Colleen) and their children, Zach, Connor, and Katie and 13 Great grandchildren.
