Rev. Charlie James "Jimmy" Fanning, Jr.

Brevard - Rev. Charlie James "Jimmy" Fanning, Jr., 55, died Tuesday July 21, 2009 at Transylvania Regional Hospital, Brevard.

Born in Orangeburg, SC, he was a son of the late C.J. Fanning, Sr. and Gladys Davis Fanning. He was the Pastor of Grace Baptist Church in Brevard since 2000.

Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Inga Phillips Fanning, one daughter; Allyson Fanning Carson and her husband Mark, a son Clinton McKinley Fanning and his wife Jennifer all of Neeses, SC, three sisters: Sandra Tonnsen of Maggie Valley, NC., Linda Gunter of North, SC, Darlene Hughes of Neeses, SC., two grandchildren; Braylan Carson and one on the way, numerous nieces and nephews.

Prior to answering the call of God to enter the ministry, Jimmy was in the grocery business for 30 years.

He was a wonderful husband, father, pa-pa and brother. His greatest love was preaching and he loved people. He will be greatly missed.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, July 23, 2009 at Grace Baptist Church in Brevard with Rev. Clarence Ledford and Rev. John Ashworth officiating. The family will receive friends 12:00-1:45pm prior to the service. Burial will follow Friday at Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery in Neeses, SC.
