She was born on November 23, 1952, in Pavo, Georgia, to the late John Wesley Dunn, Jr. and Leila Thomas Dunn Brant. In her free time, Carolyn found joy in simple pleasures such as sewing, tending to her garden, and creating beautiful scrapbooks filled with memories of her travels to the beach. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her grandson, Justin Wilkerson, brothers Johnny Dunn and Tommy Dunn, and sisters Sarah Beasley and Susan Alexander.

Mrs. Cannington is survived by her daughters, Stephanie Yvonne Lee and husband Michael of Moultrie and Sheila Renea Simmons of Moultrie; brother, Welsey Dunn of Tampa, Florida; sisters, Doris Hawkins and Husband John of Moultrie, and Teresa Armas and husband Dr. Ignacio of Tampa, Florida; grandchildren, MacKenzie Lee (Jasmin), Kirsten Wilkerson (Jonathan), Kelsey Kendall (Shawn) and Katelin Melton; great-grandchildren, Aaliyah Melton, Martelli Ross, Jr., Claudia Kendall, Legend Melton, Melahnie Lee, and Ka’Lani Melton; former spouses, Carl Winford Simmons and William “Bill” Cannington; her beloved fur companion, Roxie; and a host of extended family and friends.
