Brevard - Carmel Roman, 93, died Sunday, September 28, 2008 in Brevard, NC.

She was born in Red Granite, Wisconsin and resided most of her life in Chicago Heights, Ill.

She worked at Saint James Hospital in Chicago Heights for over 45 years. She started out in the laundry facility and worked her way to the manager of the medical records department. She was an active member of San Rocco Catholic Church in Chicago Heights. Carmel was the daughter of Italian immigrant parents, Nicola and Teresea Roman. She was preceded in death by 2 sisters: Julia and Eda and 3 brothers: Joe, Emminio and Anthony.

She is survived by her sister Angeline Vesci and 4 nephews: Frank Vesci of Brevard, Dennis Vesci of Austin Texas, Bob Herrman of South Chicago Heights and David Herrman of Brevard. She leaves numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, Oct. 2nd, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 11:00 am with Father Carl Del Giudice officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6-8 PM at Moore Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Glenwood, Ill. at a later date.
