Brenda Scruggs

November 13, 1948 — December 5, 2020

Lake Toxaway

Brenda Kay Scruggs, 72, born in Transylvania County and a resident of the Silversteen Community, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, December 5, 2020. A native of Transylvania County, she was the daughter of the late Blanche Owen Galloway and Avery Galloway. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her stepfather Emmit Moore, her husband Bobby Eugene Scruggs, and her sisters Mary Lou Byers and Patricia Lawter.

Brenda was a Godfearing and loving woman, sister, wife, mother and Granny. She spent her life working for the county and school systems helping others. She first and foremost loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and if given the chance she would tell you about her love for the Lord.  She was a compassionate and caring woman who always had a kind word or an uplifting scripture to impart to anyone. She especially loved her kids and family and was always there in a moments’ notice with a helping hand and love. She was an inspiration and role model for her entire family and those who knew her, and she was greatly loved and will be sorely missed. She loved her husband Bobby without ceasing and longed to be reunited. Brenda is at home with her loved ones and heaven has gained another very special soul.

She is survived by her loving brother, Ray Von Galloway, sisters Bonnie Whitmire, Wanda Fisher, and Bobby Merrell; son Marty Scruggs and wife Mellissa, daughter Renae Scruggs, son Jeremy Scruggs and wife Shannon, son Tirrell Scruggs and wife Kimberly; five stepsisters, Ann Shelrutt and her husband, Marshall, Betty Bowers and her husband, Jack, Dot Talinto, Linda Kilpatrick and her husband, Kelvin, and Rita Scruggs all of South Carolina; 17 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
