Avery Colleen McKeller
May 9, 1994 – January 10, 2021
Avery Colleen McKeller, 26, of Brevard, passed away Sunday, January 10, 2021.
Heaven recovered one of its brightest stars on Sunday morning, when Avery McKeller returned home. We in Brevard were blessed to have been given the gift of her presence for 26 remarkable years. Avery knew only two types of people: friends and friends she didn’t yet know. Her loud, genial greeting and the uninhibited openness of her life endeared her to strangers and neighbors alike.
She is survived by her mom and dad, Mack and Paula McKeller, her sisters, Madeline, Mary, and Claire, her brother Peter Offen, her beloved nieces, Hazel and Cora, and nephew, Everett.
She will be missed greatly by her maternal grandmother, Sandy Renard, her paternal grandfather and grandmother, Charles and Lib McKeller, and her uncles, aunts, and cousins and all of her exchange student siblings in France and Denmark.
Her life was made full by her friends at TVS, Special Olympics, and Specials Friends class at First United Methodist Church. She loved her friends dearly and showed it proudly and loudly.
She enjoyed spending time out in town, doing puzzles, taking care of her babies (and her dolls), and being with her family.
Brevard has lost her shining light. Her absence will be felt in our community forever. May we all learn from her. Interact with each other with love, respect, kindness, and always with a smile and the world will be a better place.
One of her favorite activities was taking riding lessons at Free Rein, of which she has been a part of since the start. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Free Rein today and annually at P.O. Box 1325, Brevard, NC 28712.
There will be a Time of Remembrance for Avery for everyone to watch and respond to on the website of Moore-Blanchard Funerals & Cremations and Facebook beginning at noon on Friday January 15, 2021.
More importantly, we plan to celebrate her life every day. When COVID-19 has been conquered we will gather in person to share memories and hugs. And dance on the table.
