Agnes Sutton

Pisgah Forest, North Carolina

Agnes Newlands Fraser Sutton, 96, of Pisgah Forest, passed away Sunday, September 11, 2016. A native of Miami, Florida, Agnes was the daughter of the late John Daniel and Sophie Cunningham Fraser.

In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Fred Allen Sutton; her brother, Daniel Fraser and her sister, Peggy Bilyard, and many dear friends.

Agnes was a resident of Transylvania County since 1979 and served Sacred Heart Church since it gathered on Caldwell Street. She greatly enjoyed working with the Literacy Council helping the men from Schenk. She was looking forward to being reunited with Fred and her mother. She passed peacefully in hospice at the Elizabeth House, for whose care her family is deeply grateful.

Agnes is survived by children: daughter Susan and husband Cliff of Pisgah forest; Steve Sutton of Miami, FL; and grandchildren Brian, Steven, and Kristen.
A Memorial Mass for Agnes will be held at 11:00 a.m. on September 24, 2016 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Brevard.

In lieu of flowers, Agnes stated she would prefer a donation be made to one of the following: Sacred Heart Catholic Church or the Church's Capital Improvement Fund, Sharing House (Brevard), Transylvania County Library, or Four Seasons Compassion for Life Elizabeth House (Flat Rock).
