Bryan Matheson Buchanan, 57, of Greer, South Carolina, passed away on Thursday, March 2nd, 2023. Born in Atlanta, Georgia, he was the son of Claire Matheson Sharpe and the late Augustus Hamilton Buchanan, Jr. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother Augustus Hamilton Buchanan II.
Bryan spent his formative childhood years in Brevard, NC, which later became a special place for him that he shared with his family. Following his high school graduation in Anderson, SC, he joined his brother serving in the Navy as an Electronics Warfare Technician. After his service, he obtained his degree in Computer Science at Limestone University and was employed in various roles within the engineering and electronics industries. Bryan and his wife Louanne married in 2001, later moving to Greer, SC, and welcoming their son, Luke, in 2011. They have lived in Greer since, building a life that has brought them incredible love and joy. Prior to his death, he fulfilled his passion by owning and operating an engineering design and consulting business, serving diverse industries and markets.
Bryan loved life. He was known as dependable, loyal, outgoing, and fun loving, lighting up a room with his smile and laughter. He passionately loved and was loved by his family and friends, and never met a stranger. His pride and joy was his son, Luke, who he was an exceptional father to and carries on his legacy through his creativity, smart nature, quick wit, and kind heart. Bryan brought such richness to his family, with a love of music, the outdoors, humor, and a general appreciation for life. He will be deeply missed by all who loved him.
His loving survivors include his wife of 21 years, Louanne Rotola Buchanan; their son, Luke Hamilton Buchanan, 12; his mother Claire Matheson Sharpe; his sister Heather Sharpe Holmes; nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles.
A Graveside Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, March 11, 2023, at Blue Ridge Gardens, 994 New Hendersonville Hwy., Pisgah Forest, NC 28768. Officiating will be Dr. Richard Gibbons from First Presbyterian Church of Greenville, SC. Military Rites will be rendered by the United States Navy and the Transylvania County Honor Guard.
